The Thrilling Thread Lift

As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity and firmness. Skin begins to sag, resulting in marionette lines, jowling. and drooping of the eyes, brows, mouth, and cheeks. Threads are an excellent option for patients looking for immediate improvement without undergoing major surgery like a facelift or neck lift.

How Do Thread Lifts Work?

Although there are different techniques and types of threads, they all utilize the same basic principle. Absorbable polydioxanone (PDO)  sutures are strategically placed under the tissue through small, discreet, entry points no larger than the diameter of a surgical needle.  The threads cling onto loose or sagging skin and essentially suspend it up. This provides immediate, subtle, lift. Additionally, the threads elicit a healing response in the surrounding tissues which kick starts the production of collagen. Over the course of 6 to 12 months, patients will build new collagen in the areas which were treated by threads. Collagen plays a vital role in providing the structure and backbone to keep the skin looking youthful and firm.

  • Lifts the lower face and midface, jawline, and/or brows for a more "snatched" appearance

Main Benefits of a Thread Lift

  • Minimal downtime
  • Natural-looking results
  • None of the risks or scars associated with a surgical facelift

What kinds of threads are offered at Grossman Dermatology in Los Angeles and NYC?

Dr. Grossman has spent decades perfecting the art of facial sculpting with threads. We utilize a wide variety of thread types, brands, and techniques to create a truly Kustom Lift for each unique patient.

How long does the thread lift procedure take?

Though it may vary depending on the individual and areas being treated, a thread lift typically takes 30-60 minutes.

What is the Thread Lift Treatment Process?

During the consultation, your provider will listen to your concerns and analyze your face, neck, and jawline to determine how your unique features are aging. Then we will discuss recommendations about which method(s) would provide you with the best results. Before the procedure begins, your face will be cleansed and numbed with an injectable anesthetic. This makes a thread lift relatively painless. A needle will be used to make access and exit points in your skin, and then the threading will begin. A long, thin cannula that holds the thread will go beneath the skin to place the thread correctly. The cannula is then removed, leaving the lifting thread in place. The number of threads and areas in which they are placed will be customized to fit your unique needs and aesthetic goals.

When will I see results after a thread lift?

You will notice immediate improvement which will settle and continue to improve over the course of the following months as the threads increase the production of collagen in the treated areas.

How much downtime will there be after a thread lift?

Downtime is going to be dependent upon the types of threads used and the amount of correction needed.  In general, there is some mild swelling and soreness for a few days, and maybe some bruising.  Patients will need to take care for about 7 to 10 days so as to not to dislodge the placed threads.  It is not unusual for there to be some bunching of the skin which will resolve over several days, depending on the amount of sagging originally present.
