What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 (M8) is a minimally-invasive fractional skin treatment which delivers radio-frequency energy at a variety of subdermal depths through gold-coated microneedles located at the tip of the headpiece. The radio-frequency heat also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, tightening the fibroseptal network. This results in firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

While we offer the more typical packages of Morpheus 8 (aka M8 Lite) for patients looking for minimal downtime, Grossman Dermatology also specializes in a uniquely aggressive approach to M8, which provides significant improvement in the tone, texture, fine lines and wrinkles in just one treatment.

What Happens During a Morpheus8 Procedure?

When you arrive to our medical spa, your treatment for Morpheus8 in Santa Monica will begin with a numbing cream being applied, which will need about 45 minutes to take effect. After this, your skin will be cleansed and treatment will begin. The Morpheus8 handheld device works by “stamping” the skin with the microneedles in order to remodel deep layers of the skin. Different levels of energy can be used to address different aesthetic concerns. Because there Morpheus8 doesn’t use incisions, there is no scarring left behind. Every patient is different, but on average, 1-3 Morpheus8 sessions may be needed to achieve the desired results.

Downtime and recovery

Recovery and downtime are greatly dependent on the individual, intensity of treatment, and areas treated. However, most patients resume their normal activities within 3-5 days following an “M8 Lite” treatment and 5-7 days following Dr. Grossman’s innovative, more aggressive treatment. Sun exposure should be avoided to protect the newly resurfaced skin.

How Quickly Will I see results?

Why is it important that Morpheus8 has adjustable needle depths?

The variety of depths allows your practitioner to delivery radio-frequency energy to multiple layers of the subdermal tissue. This magnifies the effects of treatment, resulting in more dramatic improvement in less time.

Is Morpheus8 painful?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to reduce any potential discomfort, making the procedure generally well-tolerated.

How does Morpheus8 compare to traditional microneedling?

Unlike traditional microneedling, Morpheus8 adds radiofrequency energy to enhance results by promoting deeper tissue remodeling and tightening.

Can Morpheus8 be combined with other treatments?

Yes, Morpheus8 can be safely combined with other aesthetic procedures, such as fillers or Botox, for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

How Quickly Will I see results?

Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks more noticeable results begin to appear. Improvements continue for 3-6 months after the treatment.
